Finals & Friends

The last few weeks have been pretty crazy but not the kind that makes me want to jump down a hole and transfer schools, most days at least. It's more the interesting kind of crazy. Like, this stuff going on is not really what I expected. But its fun and engaging and outside of the routine of high school. Where each day is still something I figure out as I go, but the curve balls are a little more predictable. Like yes I actually need to study for days (plural) for my tests, and yes I kind of know how to do that now, and its ok if I don't get much homework done on the weekends.
Sure I still have a mass amount of homework and tests and projects and drama and finals are coming up and engineering is really hard but IB was hard and I've taken finals before 🤞so it'll be fine.


me and several of my friends made a birthday cake for the 4 people in our friend group with birthdays in November. It was pretty hard and took us like four hours because every step was like: "Ok we need to measure this water. I need a measuring cup. Oh, you don't have a measuring cup? Oh, I guess we'll eyeball it in this bowl. This is hard. Oh look, if we eyeball it in a solo cup its easier. Let's do that. Ok, now we need to melt this butter..."
We also made frosting out of margerine which was weird, but some how we pulled it off 🤷‍♀️ and it turned out cute.

other birthday festivities continued... this time on a week day with some chem pre-lab in between

so, we bought tickets to go see Bill Nye at like 10am the day they came out, which is amazing because so did like half of purdue <3 

we took a weekend trip to Aldi and goodwill the week before thanksgiving and bought matching leggings. Its a very goofy thing I'm aware but hay. Also, I am still very tall

maybe I'm a real engiener after all

the rest of the homework I have for the semester and how I'm going to study for finals 😉😉

Here's an example of my typical Lunch/Dinner in the dining halls: By "typical" I don't mean: composed of foods I eat on a common basis, because the only thing I've already eaten this week in that picture is the water, (and ok, the pizza, but it was very different "pizza", and if we classified all pizzas together, I might as well just say that I've also eaten "vegetable" this week). I mean "typical" as in, it is a very eclectic assortment of food, and the only thing they all have in common is that they looked like something yummy and convincingly healthy and were all being served at the dining court I happened to stumble into (in this case, Ford ). They definitely don't belong to the same "cuisine". Like if I went to 1 restaurant, I could never order bacon, cheese pizza, stir-fried sugar peas, frozen blackberries, and a "New York Wrap". Weirdness. yeah.

Engineering is weird. Being in all engineering classes with all engineers all the time is weird. Not because of the majority guy thing. I was expecting that, and most of the EPICS classes I'm in actually have "a lot of girls" *. *like for an engineering class. So like, 1/4 girls. So no, not that. It's weird because I'm not used to being in classes where literally no one can spell. Like actually. In chem lab yesterday we had a discussion in my lab group about whether "bottom" is spelt with an "u", an "o", or my suggestion, an "e". As you can tell I fit right in. I'm not used to being assigned two-page papers and people saying "that looks long". Like, ok, I understand the longest think we had to write was that calc problem yesterday, but guys come on. Two pages is shorter than the works cited was for my Extended Essay . I'm not used to the style-of-choice being a too big nerd shirt, athletic shorts, ...

First Week, What?

So, after  BGR I was feeling pretty good about starting school because people are nice and I was having a blast, but you know, college is not solely about making friends and hanging out. I wish though. So like, classes are a thing. And they are difficult, yes, even in the 1st week. And also, even though being able to do your own thing all the time is awesome, it also makes things pretty crazy and hard to organize. Purdue has so many things you can get involved in from sports to clubs to working etc. etc. so it's been hard to decide what to give my time to. With so many opportunities I can really find the thing (or combination of things) that is perfect for me, but that also puts a lot of pressure on finding an activity that is something I really enjoy. So, I've been going to a ton of callouts (intro meetings) on different things but surprise, it's really hard to tell if something is "the thing for you" by just going to the callout meeting.
